Had a terrific lunch with Guy last week at The Society of Illustrators. Discussing life and art in the hallowed dining room of the historical institution made for a truly fulfilling afternoon. So it was the icing on the cake to have Tim O’Brien, Anita Kunz, Peter de Seve, and Steven Guarnaccia stop by and say hi. All of whom I’ve long admired. After our meal Guy and I perused the current gallery show and ran into Wendell Minor and his wife Florence. Wendell has illustrated thousands of books, many of which are the very definitive covers of the classics. Additionally, he was the president of the Society. We had a great conversation about the field and exchanged business cards. Not long after I received a short email from him that made me feel like a million bucks. Forgive me for sharing it here.
Hi Adam:

I do not often see new talent that really captures my attention and imagination. Your work certainly does!

You have a great future ahead and I wish you continued success.

My best,

Wendell Minor
